The all white everything era is officially over 😱

The other day I was scrolling through homes on MLS and realized that every house built or renovated between about 2016 and 2023 basically looks the same!

White walls. White cabinets. White countertops. Black fixtures.

And listen, I was right there drooling over that prison cell look like everyone else.

At the time it felt fresh and timeless but if you’ve noticed things starting to feel a little sterile lately, you’re not imagining it. Designers are officially calling it “the all-white everything era” and it’s on its way out! What’s replacing it? Warmth.

We’re seeing creamy neutrals, rich wood tones, brass finishes, deep greens, chocolate browns, and spaces that actually feel lived in. People are decorating less for Instagram and more for real life.

One of my favorite trends is that homes are becoming more personal again. Reading nooks, game tables, family photos, vintage finds, pieces with a story behind them. The goal isn’t perfection anymore. It’s creating a home that feels like you. Which honestly makes sense.

What’s interesting is we’re seeing some of the same thing in real estate.

The homes buyers connect with aren’t necessarily the ones that feel like a showroom. They’re the ones that feel welcoming. The ones where buyers can picture themselves drinking coffee in the kitchen or hosting friends on a Friday night.

No, I’m not suggesting you paint your entire house dark green this weekend. Or use that as an excuse to leave your counters cluttered during showings, but if you’ve been wanting to warm things up, add some personality, or finally use that piece you’ve always loved but thought didn’t fit the trend, consider this your permission slip.
